Grant Accountant
Position Overview
Our client, a mission-driven organization, is seeking an experienced Grant Accountant to support the financial management and compliance of grant-funded programs.
This position may be offered on a contract-to-hire, or direct hire basis, depending on client needs.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Financial Management
- Track, reconcile, and maintain financial records for multiple grant-funded programs
- Monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with approved grant budgets
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal stakeholders and external funders
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local grant regulations (e.g., Uniform Guidance / 2 CFR Part 200)
- Review grant agreements to identify financial requirements and restrictions
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Collaborate with program managers to develop and maintain grant budgets
- Analyze variances and provide recommendations to ensure financial compliance
- Assist with budget modifications and grant renewals
Billing & Revenue Cycle
- Prepare grant invoices and reimbursement requests
- Monitor receivables and follow up on outstanding payments
- Ensure proper revenue recognition for restricted funding sources
Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with program teams to provide financial guidance
- Assist with grant proposal budgeting and financial planning
- Provide training and support on grant financial processes as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2-5+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on grant or fund accounting
- Experience managing federal, state, or foundation grants
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling)
Qualifications
- Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, education, or government environments
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Online
- Experience with audit preparation and compliance reporting
